SUSTAINABILITY

Green design defines the project inside and out. The latest building and sustainability engineering is being utilized to ensure that this project is built and operated in a way that is environmentally responsible.
  • By deconstructing the building instead of imploding or demolishing it, many of the materials from the old building—steel, concrete—will be recycled. The result is nearly $4 million in recycling revenue that can be returned to the project.
  • Construction will focus on green building techniques and materials, which will allow the building to achieve LEED Gold certification.
  • Innovative lighting and climate systems will significantly reduce overall energy consumption.

The Wilshire Grand Center's Sustainability features include:
Public Transportation - The building is located in the heart of downtown with access to an abundance of both Metro bus and Metro rail lines. Additionally, the “My Figueroa” streetscape project brings the cities first protected bikeway to the doorsteps of the Wilshire Grand project making it the center of a growing robust bicycle network.
Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms -  The project is currently providing 158 bicycle storage spaces for over 5% of building occupants. Ninety-two of these spaces are located inside of the building in a safe and secure environment for employees. Additionally, showers are provided adjacent to the indoor storage for use by employees.
Preferred Parking - Preferred parking is provided for those with electric, low-emitting/ fuel efficient vehicles or carpools. Occupants with qualifying vehicles will be able to take advantage of these single park spaces located closest to the elevators. We also offer EV charging on level 4.  Currently we have 10 charging stations and are “pre-wired” fro 48 more spaces.
Tenant Design Guidelines - Each tenant will be provided Sustainability Design Guidelines in our TI Manual to encourage and assist tenants in “greening” their own spaces and to take advantage of the efficiencies already built into the Wilshire Grand building. The document will include guidelines for:
–Reduced waste generation during construction
–Control of indoor pollutants during construction
–Design for a healthy indoor environment
–Water conservation
–Energy conservation
–Use of Lutron Controls
–Use of outside air
–Materials selection
–Green building programs
